Using the Report feature

The F7/Report feature was added in CNC7 version 6.00 for DOS, and has been present in all versions since. The exact sequence for specifying where you want the resulting files stored, and the names of the resulting files, have varied.

Windows CNC11 and CNC12 versions 3.00 - 4.20

In these versions, you select the destination drive and directory from a file list.
  1. Plug in a USB drive
  2. Press F7 for the Utility menu
  3. Press F7 for Report
  4. Arrow down to "d: USB Device", or a higher drive letter, as appropriate.
  5. Press F10 to accept that location and copy the report files
  6. Attach the resulting report.zip* file to your e-mail

* In version 3.16 and later, the filename will begin with "report" and end with ".zip", but will also include the control board ID and the current date and time: for example, report_1031191234_2020-01-31_12-34-56.zip.

Linux CNC10 versions 2.30 - 2.73

In these versions, you select the destination drive and directory from a file list.
  1. Insert a blank floppy disk or plug in a USB drive
  2. Press F7 for the Utility menu
  3. Press F7 for Report
  4. Arrow down to "A: Floppy", "A: USB Device", "B: USB Device" etc., as appropriate.
  5. Press Enter to select the desired location and display it at the top of the screen
  6. Press F10 to accept that location and copy the report files
  7. Attach the resulting report.zip file to your e-mail

Linux CNC10 versions 1.25 - 1.51

In these versions, you could select the destination drive from a drop-down list, and optionally type a subdirectory.
  1. Insert a blank floppy disk or plug in a USB drive
  2. Press F7 for the Utility menu
  3. Press F7 for Report
  4. Arrow down to "A: Floppy", "A: USB Device", "B: USB Device" etc., as appropriate.
  5. Press Enter to place the selected drive at the top of the list
  6. Press Enter again to copy report files to the selected drive
  7. Attach the resulting report.zip file to your e-mail

Linux CNC10 versions 1.00 - 1.21

In these versions, the Report files automatically went to the A: drive. This was usually a floppy disk drive.
  1. Insert a blank floppy disk
  2. Press F7 for the Utility menu
  3. Press F7 for Report
  4. Press any key to continue
  5. Attach the resulting report.zip file to your e-mail

DOS CNC7 versions 6.00 - 8.23

In these versions, the Report files automatically went to the A: drive. This was always a floppy disk drive.
  1. Insert a blank floppy disk
  2. Press F7 for the Utility menu
  3. Press F7 for Report
  4. Press any key to continue
  5. Attach all the resulting files except INSTALL.BAT to your e-mail

Versions 6.00 through 7.17 did not include several important files with the Report (for example, CNC7.PRM and CNC7.HOM). Therefore if you have version 7.17 or earlier you should make a CFG Backup in addition to the Report. See below for CFG Backup instructions.

DOS CNC7 versions 4.00 - 5.27

If you have a DOS version prior to 6.00, use the Backup CFG feature instead:
  1. Insert a blank floppy disk
  2. Press F7 for the Utility menu
  3. Press F3 for Backup
  4. Press F1 for CFG
  5. Attach the resulting CFG_ARC.CFP file to your e-mail
