Centroid CNC control sales, service, training and support

These are servo motors used in Centroid CNC controls from 1993 to present. Not all motors or all variants are pictured.

Note that many small-machine retrofits re-used existing DC servo motors. If you have such a machine, your motors were not supplied by Centroid and may not appear here.

This page is a work in progress. If you have specific questions or requests, please e-mail me. Also, if you have better pictures of some of these motors which you would be willing to share, please e-mail them to me as well.

DC Motors

Baldor MTE40xx

NEMA 42 DC Motor, all gray, back cap same diameter as motor case.

Used on M10 and M40-family controls in 1993 and 1994. Also found on many retrofits.

These motors were all supplied with a 24-7 MS connector.

SEM MTS30M4-48

NEMA 42 DC motor, black case with either orange or blue back cap, back cap smaller diameter than motor case.

Used on M10, M40, M400 and M39-family controls from 1994 to 2011.

These motors were supplied both with 24-7 MS connectors and as direct-wired motors (with a sealed strain relief for cable entry, and plug connections inside the back of the motor).

Early and intermediate models were branded SEM. Late models (short blue caps) were mostly branded Centroid, but still had the MTS30 model number.

Glentek GM4030 & GM4050

NEMA 42 DC motor, all black, back cap same diameter as motor case.

Supplied in 29 in-lb and 40 in-lb models.

Used on M400S and M39S-family controls from 2004 to present.

These motors were supplied both with 24-7 MS connectors and as direct-wired motors (with a sealed strain relief for cable entry, and plug connections inside the back of the motor).

These motors are generally branded Centroid, but still have the GMxxxx model numbers.

Redcom 17 in-lb

Metric DC motor, all black, back cap same diameter as motor case.

Used on M400S and M39S-family controls from 2004 to present.

Also used on Hardinge HNC and CHNC lathe retrofits, with no encoder mounted to the motor (these controls used encoders on the ballscrew ends instead). When used as Hardinge motors, they were fitted with a gray PVC back cap.

These motors were supplied only as direct-wired motors (with a sealed strain relief for cable entry, and plug connections inside the back of the motor).
